runABC Launches Tour of Tameside Club Trophy

runners at the Tour of Tameside

Since the event was relaunched in 2015, runABC, the UK's largest circulation running magazine, has worked with the Tour of Tameside to publicise what we think is one of the best events in the north of England. The Tour of Tameside has a magnificent heritage - it was the leading North West multi-stage event in the 1980s - and now it is back and growing in popularity.

Last year saw a fourth leg added to the programme and the 2017 Tour of Tameside will also be run over four days:

A total of 32 miles across a testing mix of road, trail and fell.

runABC in partnership with the Tour of Tameside is introducing a new challenge for club runners. Already big contingents from Sale Harriers, Trafford Harriers, Hyde Village Striders, Glossopdale Harriers, Manchester Frontrunners and many other clubs contest the podium places and the glory of prominent positions. Now club runners, both as individuals and as teams, can win superb prizes across all four events as part of the runABC Tour of Tameside Club Trophy.

The prizes on offer for individual club runners are:

  • Individual Stages - win £100, £75 (2nd) or £50 (3rd);
  • Overall Tour - win £250, £150 (2nd) or £75 (3rd).

The prizes on offer for club teams are:

  • Overall Tour - win £150 Male Team and £150 Female (both 3 x £50).

Likely to be coveted as much as the cash prizes is the specially designed runABC Tour of Tameside Club Trophy which will be presented on the final Sunday of the Tour by Mr. Running himself, Dr Ron Hill MBE, the man who created the event back in 1983.

We are launching this new challenge with a Facebook competition with three full tour places available. This package is worth £225 and is a single prize of three club places.
