Running Up To Christmas

Santa Dash

Today is the 1st of December and the start of the Christmas countdown. And the running world has been quick off the mark with festive races taking place across the county this weekend (2-3 December). Time to dust off that Santa suit...

It''s "Ho Ho Ho" on Saturday for the 5th Nether Heyford Santa Run in Northamptonshire. This is one of a selection of races from On Your Marks Events with a 5 mile, 1 mile or 0.5 mile choice. There is also a relay option for anyone who wants to run with a friend. Run for Santa and fundraise for charity.

The fun continues into Sunday at the Yuletide Jog in Evesham. Dress as Santa, a snowman, elf or another festive character and walk/jog/run a 5k route for St Richard’s Hospice. Every runner will receive a Christmas stocking to be filled with treats along the way and there is a prize for the best fancy dress.

We jog over to Nottingham for a seasonal day of running at the National Water Sports Centre. The Nottingham Christmas Races include a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and Marathon plus a 1-mile fun run and there will be live music, making for a party atmosphere. There is a bespoke festive medal and turkey sandwiches for all finishers.

Birmingham is our last stop for the Jingle Bell Jog with free, Santa suits for everyone who takes part. Choose from 2.5K or 5K and walk, jog or run around Billesley Common in Birmingham with a Christmassy medal and mince pie at the finish. Entrants are asked to make a donation or raise funds for Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice.
