Tough Mudder Cry BabyTough Mudder is set to go to new extremes in 2015 with the addition of an obstacle designed to make competitors cry. The controversial ‘Cry Baby’ obstacle mimics chemical weapons used by the police to disperse crowds or, to use its more common name, tear gas.

Tough Mudder’s co-founder Will Dean insists the obstacle isn’t dangerous: “The idea of doing something that sounds painful, disorientating, is definitely something that’s a little scary. It definitely will make your eyes sting while you’re in the smoke, but ultimately it’s safe.”

Others additions to the event include the ‘Ring of Fire’ which involves participants sliding on a firefighter’s pole into a mud bath, the ‘Birth Canal’ requiring runners to crawl under a water covered tarpaulin.

The event’s most notorious fixture also returns in 2015. ‘Electricshock Therapy’ is a course with wires charged with 10,000 volts of electricity.

Tough Mudder will host 55 events in eight countries. As well as the main event there is the Muderella aimed at female runners and Mini Mudder for kids aged eight to ten. For more information, visit the Tough Mudder website.
