Ready, Steady, Go…thenburg

Gothenburg HalfEntries are now open for Sweden’s Gothenburg Half Marathon – the biggest half marathon in the world with over 64,000 registered runners at this year’s event. Demand is again expected to be high for the 2017 race on 20 May.

Over 1.3 million runners have registered for the race since its inception in 1980. If you’re looking for a PB the race is relatively flat with only a few undulations. This was evidenced by this year’s winner, Kenyan Richard Mengich, whose time of 59:35 set a new course record.

The route starts and finishes in Slottskogen – a 137 acre park in the centre of the city. Participants are treated to an outstanding view of Gothenburg’s harbour as well as passing by the Älvsborg Bridge and Göta Älv River.
