GO2, organisers of Decathlon Coventry’s Half Marathon, have announced that the race has already attracted over 1,000 entries since going live just two weeks ago. The event, scheduled for Sunday 1 March, is seen as ideal training run for those preparing to take part in the Virgin London Marathon.
With runners enjoying a revised course this year, it is expected the forthcoming event will be a sell-out, so early entry is advised. Starting and finishing at the city centre, the course takes runners through the heart of Coventry and into the countryside beyond. The route now incorporates a full-loop of the city centre, with the downhill stretch a great boost for the final stages of the race.
Jamie Warren at GO2, said: "The interest in Decathlon Coventry’s Half Marathon has far exceeded all of our initial expectations, particularly with so many new runners setting the March event as their goal to aim for in 2015. This year’s race attracted just over 2,000 runners on race day, so to see entries reach half of this number in less than two weeks is really encouraging.
“As we anticipate a continued high level of interest in the coming months, we would highly recommend signing up early and taking advantage of our discounted early bird price. The event is open to runners of all abilities; from those hungry for a PB, right through to first time runners raising money for charity.”
Interested runners can still take advantage of an early bird price of £25 (unaffiliated) or £23 (affiliated) for a limited time. More information is available here.
