Ambitious parkrun event directors and other volunteers around the country will be lickiing their lips in anticipation following news of a new partnership between parkrun and the Leeds Building Society.
The Community Rewards scheme will provide funding and volunteer support to selected projects that help improve local parkrun communities. The scheme which has a potential pot of £25,000 is nicely explained in a short YouTube video.
Projects that will be looked on favourably include support for transport (possibly for more rural events), park tidy-ups, complimentary children's play equipment and funding for celebrations. Kilometre markers, waterproof kit for volunteers and park furniture for spectators might also be popular ideas.
The scheme partners at Leeds Building Society are suggesting that event directors speak to their fellow parkrunners and run directors to bring forward suggestions on how to improve their local parkrun community.
