Just over a week to go to Christmas with festive themed races in full swing. It’s time to tear up the track…
All Show And Plenty Of Go
Races with the words ‘Christmas Cracker’ in the title are popular at the moment with the latest offering in Warwickshire tomorrow (Saturday 17 December). The Christmas Cracker 10K and 20K is organised by Raceways Events and takes place on roads and country lanes around Warwick with medals and refreshments for all finishers. The dress code is Christmas fancy dress.
For anyone that enjoys races with loops look no further than the Newark Showground Christmas Challenge. This event takes place over two days (Sat 17 December and Sun 18 December) at this 200-acre county showground, that was home to the former RAF Winthorpe Airfield. There is the option to run one, two, four or eight 3.28-mile loop/s around the disused airfield with a custom-designed medal for all.
Sunday (18 December) sees the Draycote Water Santa Dash, an 8K fun run aimed at people of all ages and abilities. The route goes around Draycote Water near Rugby with all entrants receiving a Santa suit to wear in the race followed by a medal and goody bag afterwards.
Rudolph’s Rampage 7K is a tough fancy dress themed run, held on footpaths, farm tracks and woodland trails with a few sections of road. The course is hilly with one long drag and a short and sharp climb around Painswick in the Cotswolds. There are highly recommended mince muffins after the race to restore body and soul.
