On Saturday 2 September a group of Arrow Valley parkrunners will attempt to run 8.5 parkruns in a day, raising funds for Birmingham Children's Hospital and Action Medical Research for Children. The event starts at 7:30am from Brueton park and finishes at Redditch (Arrow Valley Country Park).
Main organiser Kevin Parsons set up the event in 2015 and it has raised thousands of pounds for charities since then. The inaugural 8.5 challenge generated over £6,000 for Acorns Children’s Hospice and over £2,000 for Charlotte & Craig Saving Hearts Foundation in 2016.
The course for the 8.5 challenge changes each year and also includes a relay race, Tag1234. To date, over £5,000 has been raised this year for the two charities.
