Teen Becomes Youngest Blind Tough Mudder Finisher

Azeem AmirA 17-year-old has become the youngest blind person in the UK to complete a Tough Mudder event. Azeem Amir took on the 12-mile Tough Mudder North West event in Cheshire last month with help from his former PE teacher Sam Dainty.

Azeem commented afterwards: “It was an absolutely amazing feeling to do it all. It was really tough, it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life. One of the worst parts was climbing up a rope through a barrel and then having to drop around three meters into water. I completely lost all sense of where I was or where I was facing. It was pretty scary.”

A Tough Mudder UK spokesperson said: “We were delighted to host Azeem at our North West event this year and inspired to see him complete the course as the youngest ever blind Mudder. Tough Mudder is designed to test your mental and physical limits, pushing you to complete a challenge as part of a team. For Azeem to have completed Tough Mudder with his friends is a testament to his determination and willpower, and personifies what makes every Tough Mudder Legionnaire.”
