BADGERS 10K Setts The Standard

BADGERS Atherstone 10K

They came, they saw and they conquered at Sunday’s (27 August) BADGERS Atherstone 10K. Individuals, workplace teams and wheelchair athletes took on a tough, hilly course in sweltering conditions.

This was the fourth outing for the BARR Gold graded race, organised by BADGERS RC who are based in North Warwickshire.
The 10k was open to disabled athletes with two father-and-daughter wheelchair teams competing there for the first time – Stephan and Chloe Couture, and Phillip Bampton and Lola Mae. Both teams have said they hope to return next year.

New for this year was the Garner Canning Corporate Shield, a workplace relay event open to teams of three runners with a shield for the winners and a memento for the other teams.
Ellis Cross of Aldershot, Farnham and District AC won the BADGERS Atherstone 10K in 33:37. Ludovic Renou of Leicester Coritanian AC was second in 34:54 with Scott Hudspith of Tamworth AC coming third in 36:12.
Eleanor Fowler of Nuneaton Harriers won the women’s race in 39:28 followed by Polly Keen in 39:49. Anna Weston of Invicta East Kent AC came third in 45:24.
Daniel Routledge was the midpoint runner in 57:41.
All finishers received a technical T-shirt, medal and goody bag along with a much appreciated bottle of ‘Fursty Ferret’ ale.
