The village of Balsall Common, conveniently located half way between Coventry and Solihull, is home to one the West Midlands' fastest growing autumn running events. The success of the inaugural Balsall Common Fun Run last year means the event returns in 2015 with an expanded 10k/5k/mini fun run programme and 1,500 places available.
The Balsall Common Fun Run on Sunday 20 September also features stalls and fun activities at the Heart of England School before, during and after the race. Kid's races start at 11.00am and with these and the 5 and 10ks plus the other activities, Balsall Common Fun Run promises to be a real family occasion.
Organisers have also issued a 'call to arms' to local residents to come out and support the expected bumper field. Races will be held on traffic-free roads and chip-timing is being introduced for 2015.
Once again local charity The Lily Mae Foundation are organising the Fun Run and Ryan Jackson, chair of the Foundation said: “We were overwhelmed by the interest and support we had for last year’s first Fun Run. This year we’re having more runners and more options for those taking part. We’re delighted to be part of such a special weekend for everyone in and around Balsall Common.
"Entries are coming in thick and fast so if you want to take part sign up soon! You do not have to raise money for The Lily Mae Foundation and we welcome any runners who wish to raise money for their chosen charities.
"Thanks to all of our sponsors including Hollywood Monster, Look Local, Irwin Mitchell Solicitors, Sainsbury's, Traffix, Spire Healthcare and Acclaimed Mortgage Consultancy ”
To take part or for further details please visit the Lily Mae Foundation website.
Organisers are also looking to recruit race marshals. If you live in the area, have no plans to run but would still like to be part of the fun on Sunday 20 September please contact Geoff Heaps on 07960 199184 for more information.
