Big And Scary Running

action from the Skeleton Run

No tricks but plenty of treats this Halloween weekend with a variety of races from 2k to the marathon. The focus is on Shropshire with four races taking place in the county. Tomorrow (Saturday 29 October), there is the Pumpkin Marathon and the Spooky Halloween Challenge Marathon. These are organised by How Hard Can It Be Events, well known for their themed races and distinctive medals.

Both races will be held on Burroughs Bank in Lightmoor, Telford with a 9am start for the Pumpkin Marathon and a 4pm start for the Spooky Halloween Challenge. These are multi-lap races with a 6-hour time limit.

Staying in Shropshire, on Sunday (30 October) we have the November Nightmare - 6 marathons (or 6 half marathons) in 6 days, also organised by How Hard Can It Be Events. There is the option to complete one or two races only. Each race has a 10am start time with the locations split between Lightmoor and Coalport in Telford. Finally, there is the Bridgnorth 10K, an undulating road race through this historic market town with an 11am start time.

More Halloween races with Parkinson’s UK Spooky Sprint in Nottingham, a 10k race with prizes for the best costume among others and glow-in-the-dark medals. The Skeleton Run, a 5 mile night trail run through Beacon Hill Country Park in Loughborough with fancy dress actively encouraged. And, Worksop Halloween Half Marathon and Fun Run in Clumber Park, Nottinghamshire; a scenic location for a highly popular race that sold out well in advance.
