One of the most popular series of running events in the UK, the Big Fun Run, will arrive in Derby this Monday (18 August). The 5k series, now expanded to host 17 separate events across the UK, will take place at Darley Park at 6:30pm.
The route will see runners start and finish alongside the River Derwent beside the Rowing Club, and take in every corner of the park. There are some slight climbs and the course offers enjoyable views of the city.
Big Fun Run director, Neil Kilgour, says: “The Big Fun Run is strictly for fun. It doesn’t matter how quickly or slowly you go. You can run, jog, juggle, dress up, take a buggy. There’s no pressure as the events are untimed, just some easy moves and a lot of laughs. It’s all about taking part and enjoying the day. If you’d love to get more active in 2014 then this is a great place to start.
Neil continued: “This isn’t about testosterone-charged athletes racing home in a record time. It’s about mums with prams, dads with toddlers on their shoulders. Are you getting a picture of something a little different?”
