Organisers of Brighton Marathon have announced that due to unprecedented demand a limited number of additional general entries will be made available soon. This is an exclusive, final opportunity to join 11,000 other runners in one of Europe's favourite running events and the second largest UK marathon on an improved Sussex seafront course on Sunday, April 9, 2017.
Earlier this year presenter and broadcaster, Zoe Ball, sent 11,073 runners on their way when she started Brighton Marathon in Preston Park. Defending champion, Duncan Maiyo (Kenya) - on course record pace to halfway - had to settle for a personal best (2:09:51) as he easily retained his title. Former Commonwealth 10,000m champion, Grace Momanyi (Kenya), overcame a strong women’s elite field to win her first major marathon (2:34:11).
Runners hoping to join the action next year must first register their interest via the official race website by 5pm on Friday, October 21. They will then receive an email with instructions on how and when to enter. Registering an interest is free but does not guarantee a place.
There are still some charity numbers available and if the full marathon is a step too far you could enter the BM 10K. Of course, Brighton Marathon weekend is not all about the tradition of the 26.2 mile footrace. Other activities include the marathon expo, Kids & Teens Mini-Mile races and the unique beach village next to the finish line, where friends and families join runners in a huge chill-out zone equipped with deck chairs and a giant screen to watch the action.
