Call Out For Oxford Half Support

Oxford Half MarathonOrganisers of the Vitality Oxford Half Marathon are looking for a host of volunteers who would be interested in being part of the upcoming event on Sunday 11 October. The rallying call also included those who could potentially volunteer as an entertainer at the race, whether it be music or dance performance, to support the runners around the course.

The half marathon, now part of the Vitality series, recorded a sell-out field last year and is on course for a repeat this time round. A large part of the event’s attraction is seen to be its picturesque route, which moves through the world famous University College grounds, Thames Path, before a grandstand finish in the Kassam stadium.

Roles currently available include: course marshals to direct runners across the course; venue Marshals to assist runners in the Race Village; information Marshals to provide runners and spectators with information about the local area; start/Finish Marshals to direct runners at the start and assist at the finish line; water Station Teams to hand out water to runners during the race; baggage Team to store runners’ bags securely before the race and return them after the race
entertainers to keep runners motivated on the course and in the Race Village. Whether its music or dance, the Vitality Oxford Half Marathon would love to have you there to support the runners!

Jamie Warren, head of Marketing and Commercial at race organiser GO2, said: “Race day is always such a buzz, whether you are running, volunteering or on course supporting. We often find that the volunteers enjoy the atmosphere so much that they want to come back and help out again. If you’re a local and want to offer your support, we would love for you to help us really make this year’s race one to remember!”

You can register as a volunteer here, or, for those interested in competing, limited entries are available at the race website.
