Over 300 showed they had a big heart at Sunday’s (19 May) Donna Louise 10K. They stepped out at Trentham Gardens for this well respected children’s hospice.
The Trentham Estate, home to the famous Italian Gardens, Monkey Forest and Outlet Village, was the location for the Donna Louise 10K & 5K Family Fun Run. Bubble Rush 5K Team and Staffs Imperial Stormtroopers Inc joined in the day’s fun.
The event was organised by Donna Louise: hospice care for children and young people who provide advice and support to families in Staffordshire and Cheshire. They look after children and young people with life-limiting illnesses that includes symptom management, respite stays, activities, physiotherapy and end of life care. The 10K & 5K Family Fun Run is one of several events that helps to raise funds for this charity.
Spectators cheered the runners as they set off at 10.30am to follow a mainly flat course in the Trentham Estate that included a section around the lake.
Dominic Plant was first across the line in 37:54 followed by Kieran Bedford in 40:17 with only a second between him and Richard Jones, third in 40:18.
Livvy McGreavy was the first female in 47:52. Cennet Tezgel was second in 48:57 and Kate Bassett third in 49:55.
There was a distinctive star-shaped medal for finishers in the 10K and 5K whose efforts were appreciated by the organisers.
