Nick’s In Seventh Heaven

Nick Kier with fizzNick Kier, Deputy Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, was a man on a mission this autumn to run seven half marathons for seven charities in seven days. Raising funds for good causes under the umbrella of St George’s Day Charity he helped the fund exceed £500,000 as it prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

The St George’s Day Charity had already raised £465,000 for local charities before Nick’s contribution of running a half marathon every day from 22 October to 28 October.

Nick was not alone as he logged his 92-mile total. He was joined by many like-minded fundraisers for some or all of his marathon undertaking. And he was bubbling with the successful outcome as he told runABC: “I am delighted to say that the ‘7for7in7’ challenge was a great success!

154 people ran or walked on one or more of the days and a total of seven (referred to as Seveners) ran all seven days with one walking all seven. To date we have raised £57,000 to be divided between the seven local charities that were nominated, I couldn't be happier.”

The seven charities in running order were The Road Victims Trust; Keech Hospice Care; Carers in Bedfordshire; Beds Garden Carers; Bedford Open Door; Childline (NSPCC) and Bedford and District Handicapped Rider’s Association.
