One man is on a mission to run seven half marathons for seven charities in seven days. Nick Kier, Deputy Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, is soon to embark on his challenge and with lots of support he aims to take the St George’s Day Charity Fund through the £500,000 mark as it celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2017.
The St George’s Day Charity has so far raised in excess of £465,000 for local charities and good causes. Nick’s 7 for 7 in 7 physical challenge is to run a half marathon every day from Saturday, 22 October until Friday, October 28.
Seven benefactors have offered up to £2,000 in matching funds to each of the chosen charities. Each charity has been invited to enter runners or walkers to join Nick on their nominated run day and to gain sponsorship in order to take advantage of the matching funds on offer.
Nick will also seek sponsorship for running all seven half marathons that he will divide equally between the seven charities. Anyone is welcome to run or walk one or all of the half marathons with Nick and to add to the sponsorship for one of the chosen charities or for their funds to be divided across all seven charities.
The seven charities in running order are The Road Victims Trust; Keech Hospice Care; Carers in Bedfordshire; Beds Garden Carers; Bedford Open Door; Childline (NSPCC) and Bedford and District Handicapped Rider’s Association.
