England are out of the World Cup and the heatwave is forecast to end next week. All is not lost however, as we have a quality line up of races this weekend (14-15 July) that will put a smile on everyone’s faces.
We lighten the mood on Saturday with a fun event in Nottingham called the Inflatable 5K Obstacle Run. Billed as the biggest and bounciest inflatable course of its kind there is now a 10K option where runners go around twice. Test yourself on the Temple of Doom, run the Gauntlet, chance a Leap Of Faith or slide down the 10ft Plummet.
The fine weather is set to continue making it ideal conditions for the Buxton Carnival 4 race which starts just ahead of the main procession. This 4-mile event takes place on roads around Buxton where there will be enthusiastic support from crowds lining the route throughout. The race will be officially started at 1.45pm by the Buxton Well Dressing Festival Queen.
Let’s continue the enjoyment on Sunday at the Kidlington 5K Fun Run and 1K Family Run in Oxfordshire with proceeds donated to local charity Daybreak. There are individual and team entry options and the race is held on grass and woodland so ideal for all ages and abilities.
Our final race is Brooksie’s Bash, a 10-mile trail race in South Derbyshire which includes a 5K, a non-competitive Fun Run/Walk and the Gnome Roam for children. New for this year is a ‘Guided’ option in the 10-miler in which entrants are accompanied by an experienced runner who will ensure they enjoy the experience rather than pace them to a PB.
