There are only three more days until the main event and everyone is frantic with last minute preparations. The upcoming festivities mean no races this weekend (23-24 December) although we have a Christmas Eve treat for youngsters whilst the adults are busy.
The Christmas Eve Fun Run is for children under 14 – under 5’s must be accompanied by an adult - and is organised by Broseley Joggers, a friendly group of people who run on and off-road around this historic town in Shropshire. They were formed in 2013 and have an inclusive attitude to running – everyone is welcome to join and enjoy the attractive surroundings.
It’s all about fancy dress in this event with a prize for the best costume that will increase the competitive aspect. There are prizes for the winning boy and girl and spot prizes too plus every child will be presented with a medal and goody bag to take home with them. Parents can indulge themselves at the cake and drinks stall while their junior Santa, reindeer or elf races around the park and try their luck in the raffle after the run.
Registration opens at 10.30am and there are entries on the day as well. This is followed by a brief warm up and a group photo before the start of the fun run at 11am. The course is 2k in distance with fun-filled activities along the way and the event is predicted to finish at 12 noon.
