After attracting an impressive 9,000 runners last year, the Color Run returns to Birmingham's NEC this Saturday (15 August). Since launching three years ago, the technicoloured 5k has gained widespread recognition, with over 300 events taking place across 50 countries.
Known as the 'Happiest 5K on the planet', the Color Run will see each participant embark upon the 5k with a clean, crisp, white t-shirt before being splattered from head to toe in paint from all the colours of the rainbow. More than 85,000 runners across the world took part in a Color Run last year.
After crossing the finish line, powdered partygoers join the Colour Festival Area to enjoy a great mix of DJs, MCs, the infamous ‘Color Throws’, plus a host of colour giveaways. The event at the NEC was originally launched in 2012 with 50 separate runs in the United States.
Following the Birmingham event, the Color Run will head to London (for a night time showing) on 5 September, followed by Sunderland (20 September) and Brighton (10 October). More information on these is available here.
