Launched in 2012 with 50 separate runs in the United States, the Color Run has spread its wings across the Atlantic and beyond, with over 300 events now taking place worldwide. Registration for the Birmingham event (Manchester hosts its very own on 5 July) scheduled for 15 August, are now open, with organisers promising a fresh twist to proceedings.
Overwhelming interest from across the UK has seen additional venues added for the 2015 tour, after more than 85,000 happy ‘Color Runners’ of all shapes, sizes and ages took part in The Color Run events last year. The event sees participants covered in bursts of coloured powder at each kilometre of the 5k route.
The Birmingham event, launched last year, attracted almost 9,000 runners to the NEC. New for 2015 is the addition of a fifth colour zone, where glitter explosions will light the skies. James Robinson, MD of Challenger World said: “After such a fantastic summer of events last year we can’t wait for the next series.”
“Our main focus is to help people have fun and be happy, without taking it too seriously. We were overwhelmed with the positive feedback from ‘Color Runners’ who took part last year. The summer of 2015 promises to be even better and we’re all looking forward to seeing our friends from last year as well as plenty of first-timers!”
