A myriad of colours will hit Birmingham next month with the city set to host what is known as the 'Happiest 5K on the planet.' The Color Run, scheduled for Saturday 16 August, will see each participant embark upon the 5k with a clean, crisp, white t-shirt before being splattered from head to toe in paint from all the colours of the rainbow.
The event, which will take place at the NEC, was originally launched in 2012 with 50 separate runs in the United States. After gaining attention across the Atlantic, the phenomenon drew in 33,000 participants in the UK last year.
Runners at the Birmingham event will make their way around the course to sounds from Capital FM, with colour blasts organised for each km marker. With this representing the first staging of the event, organisers are confident of a quick-sell out.
The Color Run is sponsored, rather fittingly, by Dulux, while Save the Children is the event's official charity partner. Individual registration is priced at £25, with the addition of £4.99 for postage and packaging. More information is available here
