Corsham St Georges 10K

England expected and Simon Nott delivered at the Corsham St Georges 10K on Sunday (23 April). The Calne RC chairman and runner posted his seventh win at the road race, crossing the finish line in 32:52.

Michael Towler of Avon Valley Runners was second in 33:35 with Jon Cracknell coming third in 33:52. Asia Zmyslona won the women’s race in 37:58, followed by Jade Littlechild of Team Bath AC in 40:21, with Emma Tate completing the podium in 41:42. The last runner crossed the line in 1:25:50. 
 
A record 1047 finishers celebrated St George's Day in warm, sunny conditions in West Wiltshire at the 34th outing of the sold-out event. The 10K and 2K Fun Run was organised by Corsham RC with all proceeds, after costs had been deducted, donated to local charities. 
 
The runners followed a route through historic Corsham and along country lanes before climbing up to the top at 4k. They then went downhill at Westwells and to the water station at 5k before going along country lanes and heading downhill to the finish. There was a sting in the tail at 9k with a hill climb on Pound Pill followed by a finish at Corsham Town Football Club.
 
Handmade trophies from Bath Aqua Glass were given to the winners of the men’s and women’s races, as well as the U18, age category, and relay winners. Cash prizes were also awarded for the first, second and third men and women, with a T-shirt, bottle of beer and goody bag for all finishers.
