GO2, organisers of Decathlon Coventry's Half Marathon, have opened registration for the 2015 edition of the race. The event has been pushed forward to Sunday 1 March, making it the ideal training run for those preparing to take part in the Virgin London Marathon.
With runners enjoying a revised course this year, it is expected the forthcoming event will be a sell-out, so early entry is advised. Starting and finishing at the city centre, the course takes runners through the heart of Coventry and into the countryside beyond. The route now incorporates a full-loop of the city centre, with the downhill stretch a great boost for the final stages of the race.
Jamie Warren at GO2 said: “As we anticipate a high level of interest in the 2015 race, and the probability of selling out, we would highly recommend signing up early. Take advantage of our discounted early bird price offering you the chance to buy your entry at the 2014 rate. The event is open to runners of all abilities; from those hungry for a PB, right through to those first time runners raising money for charity. Make Decathlon Coventry’s Half Marathon your goal for 2015!”
Jamie continued: “Although there will not be any major changes to the 2015 route, we will continue to work closely with Coventry City Council and the traffic management teams to ensure that the 2015 event is even more successful and enjoyable for all involved.”
Decathlon Coventry will return as the headline sponsor of Coventry’s Half Marathon for 2015, Stroke Association will remain the official charity partner and Myton Hospices have been named as official local charity partner.
The Schools’ Challenge will also be making a welcome return to the race day activities; a 12 week programme where pupils from local schools are encouraged to run a mile a week leading up to the half marathon, with the final mile taking place on the morning of the half marathon in front of thousands of spectators.
Registration is priced at just £23 (affiliated) or £25. You can enter at the event website.
