Dougie Mac Hospice To Host Stoke 10K

Dougie Mac Hospice To Host Stoke 10K

The Stoke 10K is under new management with Douglas Macmillan Hospice now in charge and will take place on Sunday 10 September. Douglas Macmillan (known locally as Dougie Mac) hospice have taken over the organisation of the race from ‘In The Running’ and will manage it in conjunction with their 5K Barlaston event.

Last year’s race was cancelled due to a cyberattack on the event website that caused major problems for everyone concerned and worsened as time went on. The organisers took the decision to postpone the 10K and presented runners with two options: receive a refund or defer their entry to next year.

The hospice will honour any deferred entries and have contacted the recipients to confirm their place in this year’s 10K. They aim to keep the route and entry fee the same and have asked for feedback from previous finishers and suggestions for improvement. In addition to this, a discount will be shared with all 5K runners who decide to enter the Stoke 10K.

The Douglas Macmillan hospice has many years’ experience in organising fundraising events in the area that include the popular Dougie Mac bike ride, the Moonlight Walk and the 5K. All proceeds from the 2017 Stoke 10K will help them continue their vital work, providing specialist care to patients in North Staffordshire with terminal illnesses.

Entries for the 2017 Stoke 10K open on Friday 7 April.
