Early bird entries have opened for the 2020 Shrewsbury Half Marathon and there is a lot to look forward at this popular event organised by UKRunChat. The switch to an autumn date proved to be a vote winner and this continues with next year’s race on Sunday 11 October.
The cold, dark days of winter means thoughts turn to next year’s race season and sunshine, scenic routes and PB’s. One race that delivers these is Shrewsbury Half Marathon, a favourite with runners both local and further afield who have praised the organisation, course, support, medal and goody bag.
2020 entrants will be treated to all of the above. They will take part in a professional and friendly race, that works with local and national charities and is ably assisted by a variety of partners.
The single lap, closed road course starts and finishes at Shropshire County Showground. It passes through the historic town and climbs up Wyle Cop before heading into the countryside then returning to the Showground. Expect plenty of support from the local community and a team of SRG pacers for those targeting a PB.
Everyone who crosses the finish line will be presented with a bespoke medal, technical T-shirt, environmentally-friendly goody bag and carton of water. There are also pre/post-race massages and free photos, all of which are included in the entry fee.
The early bird offer is time limited as reiterated by organisers Joe Williams and Rebecca Richardson saying: “We look forward to welcoming runners of all levels to the 2020 event. Early bird entries are available until midnight 31 December, offering the lowest price to secure a place in the Shrewsbury Half Marathon.”
