There was a pre-Easter treat for over 700 runners at last Sunday’s (12 March) Minchinhampton 10K in the heart of the Cotswolds. Popularly known as the Minch 10K, this popular event in the area, sold out out six weeks before race day.
Runners followed a hilly course on quiet country lanes around Minchinhampton that included a particularly steep climb plus two smaller inclines however the challenging course didn’t stop Charles Jones of Hereford Couriers RC from winning in 38:00. Dan Schofield of Bristol & West AC followed him in 38:56 with Simon Fortnam of Gloucester AC third in 39:22.
A close finish in the women’s race between Stroud & District AC teammates saw Dorothy Liviabella of Stroud & District AC cross the line in 43:10 with only two seconds separating her from Tegan Hooper.
Jo Mathieson was the midpoint runner in 1:00:34.
There was another win for Stroud & District AC, this time in the Mini Minch with Jake Warner (U15 Boys) first in 6:13. He was part of a field of 140 youngsters who completed two laps around the Common, tackling several obstacles as part of the fun.
Prizes included first, second and third male and female and veterans plaques for winners in the LV35 to M70 age categories. All finishers received a custom-made medal, technical T-shirt and a mini Easter egg.
This race is part of a series ranging from 5k to marathon organised by Cotswold Allrunners in association with Allrunner Events
