Entries for next year’s Anglesey Half Marathon, scheduled for Sunday 6 March, are now open with organisers once again expecting a sell-out. Based on the north west coast of Wales, the half marathon, which is also known as the Island Race, has established a reputation as one of the more unique races in the UK with a course that starts on Thomas Telford’s historic Menai Bridge.
From the Menai Bridge, runners move along the gorgeous Menai Strait coastline all the way up to Beaumaris and back. The race is often referred to as being the UK’s most beautiful half marathon and is perfect pre-London and Manchester marathon preparation.
Following on from the extremely successful sell-out 2015 event, the 2016 race looks set to be the biggest edition to date. The race has a maximum capacity of 2,200 runners and just like the previous year this limit is expected to be reached very quickly.
Potential entrants can also take advantage of a 13% discount if they register before 15 May. Rob Samuel, events manager at Always Aim High Events, commented: “We are offering everyone who enters the event more than 13% off their entry fee for the first two weeks of registration.”
“This in itself is a great deal, but anybody who buys their entry in our Store in Llangefni will receive an additional 10% off their race entry fee. Saving you over 23% off an entry into the UK’s most beautiful half – it’s an offer not to be missed!”
