paerkrun logo

Evesham parkrun launched on Saturday (21 March) with a bumper turnout of 239.  The new event was staged at Boat Lane (by Hampton Ferry) and runners enjoyed a scenic two-loop riverside course. Big contingents from Kings Heath RC, Evesham Vale RC, Stratford-upon-Avon AC and Pershore Plum Plodders boosted the attendance.

parkrun centurion Darren Hale, a regular at Cannon Hill, brought the field home in 17:15 ahead of Neil Wicks (17:32) and Simon Hall (18:04).  Black Pear Jogger Emily Seward (20:48) was fastest lady ahead of Mary Higgs.  Emma Evans was the midpoint runner on 30:32 and the field closed on 52:09.

Warren Mantle reported on Facebook:  "I was so excited about this run I forgot to start my GPS. Really enjoyed it. Good cup of coffee from Raphael's too."

This was a great 1st event for Evesham parkrun. Nice marshals and fast course made for a superb run and to top it off a "plank" challenge from the friendly bunch from Arrow Valley parkrun in the cafe after was nice. The Pershore Plum Plodders were the victors but the real winners were Evesham parkrun. Many thanks Trevor (Chairman)
