Organisers of the 2017 Ramathon have put out a final call for entries for the half marathon on Sunday 4 June. The entry deadline for the race has been extended to midnight 29 May.
Final Call For Ramathon
The decision to extend the deadline was made after organisers learned the Derby City Half Marathon wouldn't be held this year. Hosts of the Derby City Half Marathon advised runners looking for a 13.1-mile alternative to enter the Ramathon as a new challenge and a step-up in distance from the Derby 10K. As the only half marathon in Derby now, Ramathon has seen a sudden influx of entries.
The race features a flat, fast course and will be held alongside the Mini Ramathon – a two-mile fun run for youngsters and families. Participants will be accompanied by the Derby County FC mascot ‘Rammie’. The event also includes a Business Team Run for workplace groups with the chance to compete with for prizes.
Star of Channel 4’s Gogglebox, Baasit Siddiqui, will start the Ramathon at 9.30am before joining the masses once the race is underway. It starts and finishes at Pride Park Stadium, the home of Derby County FC with pacers in bright pink T-shirts on hand to help runners reach their targets.
Race director Richard Kay has a message for anyone yet to make up their mind: “I would encourage anyone still wishing to enter Ramathon to register now and secure their place on the start line of this friendly, well supported and highly professional event.”
