Carl’s teammate Julian Goodwin took third place in 35:26. An equally strong performance by Michelle Buckle of Newcastle (Staffs) AC saw her win the women’s race in 40:12. Kristina Defries of host club Trentham RC was second in 40:41 with Wendy Swift of Staffordshire Moorlands AC coming third in 41:42.
Amanda Kimber of South Cheshire Harriers was the midpoint runner, finishing in 48:03.
The race winners were also first home for the North Staffs Road Runners Association (NSRRA). There are 20 races in this league with points awarded based upon individual results. The best 12 performances count towards the league competition with prizes awarded at the end of the season. Currently, Ben Gamble tops the men’s ranking table with Michelle Buckle in third place in the women’s ranking table.
Trentham RC hosted the 10k road race, sponsored by Sub-4 and Ashbank Garage SsangYong. A field of 226 runners followed an undulating course on semi-rural roads that started and finished at Moorside High School in Werrington, Stoke-on-Trent. All finishers received a medal and technical T-shirt.
The race is part of the ‘Trentham Triple’ series alongside the Trentham 10K and the Dave Clark 5. There were prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female, age group and team categories with a running gift (monogrammed towel) for all finishers.
