Midlands runners have four races, three counties, two distances (10k and 5k) and one 15k option on Sunday (22 January).
First up is the Wellingborough MT Dirt Run. This lap race is held at Irchester Country Park in Northamptonshire with a mix of grass, trail, soft tracks and hard surfaces to test early season fitness levels. A single lap is 5k and runners have a choice of three distances - 5K (1 lap), 10K (2 laps) or 15K (3 laps) with everyone starting at 10am. These options make this an ideal event for beginners and experienced runners alike.
We stay in Northamptonshire for the moment with the Gayton Run 10K and 5K. Both distances take place on the road with a flattish route for the 5K whereas the 10K poses more of a challenge including a steep climb in the shape of Gayton Hill. This takes runners back towards the village of Gayton where they join the 5K route to the finish. This is one of five runs organised by On Your Marks Events with an 11am start from Wakelin Farm, Northampton.
On to Stratford-upon-Avon with the Tempo Winter 10K Road Race 4, the penultimate race in this series of five. The course is the same for each race although the direction alternates from clockwise to anti-clockwise on each of the dates. The final race in the series is on the 19 February.
We finish in Staffordshire with the Kidsgrove 10K, a new race from Gold-Events taking place in two parks and on roads around the area. In addition, the organisers are holding three practice runs aimed at beginners.
