Heart Healthy Family 5K In Nottingham

Getting Active Together At SUBWAY Healthy Hearts Family 5K

The SUBWAY Healthy Hearts Family 5K is making its inaugural Nottingham appearance at Wollaton Park on Sunday (10 July). With two route options, one of which includes a buoyant feature, designed for youngsters and the young-at-heart.

This new event for Nottingham is the fourth in a series of nine races taking place across the UK from May to September. The aim is for families to enter and have fun whilst raising funds for Heart Research UK. It is organised by sandwich chain SUBWAY in partnership with Heart Research UK who are campaigning for families to lead healthy lifestyles including a sensible diet and exercise.

These events are an ideal way for families to exercise together with options to walk, jog, run or push a buggy around. It is free for children under 12 and £7 for everyone else with all participants receiving a t-shirt, medal and a tasty SUBWAY lunch, prepared using healthy ingredients. This entry fee also allows access to the Family Village with plenty of entertainment on offer.

In an unusual twist on the 5k theme, there are two courses to choose from; one is the traditional 5k race and the other is the same distance with the addition of the ‘Field of Fresh’ challenge in the last 500 metres. This challenge takes the form of a giant inflatable obstacle course inspired by the SUBWAY menu.

All proceeds from this event donated to Heart Research UK and SUBWAY’s Healthy Heart grant scheme that funds community projects and initiatives in Nottingham.

The last word from Barbara Harpham, National Director of Heart Research UK who said: “The charity partnership between HRUK and the SUBWAY brand has been the perfect way to raise awareness of the importance of heart health.”

Entries are still available for this 5k. Visit the Eventbrite website for more details.
