It’s Peak Running Time

Today we take a sneak peek at a new trail half marathon, a chicken run and many more races this weekend (25–26 March).

Fans of the Tissington Trail Half Marathon will be delighted with a new offering from Nice Work. The Monsal Trail Half Marathon in Derbyshire takes place on Saturday and Sunday with a stunning route along a former Midland railway line, passing through four tunnels and over the Monsal viaduct. Both half marathons start at 10am with a bespoke medal and goodies for all finishers plus the option to purchase a commemorative event T-shirt.
We stay with trail on Saturday but with the addition of obstacles, water and mud at the Reaper Midlands Day & Night Run, Coventry. They are tough 10ks, with the option to do both, and offer a well-deserved medal at the finish.
We move onto multi-terrain with the Cleevewold 14, a hard, hilly race organised by Cheltenham Harriers. Runners start from a medieval tithe barn and climb up Cleeve Hill where they reach Cleeve Common, the highest point in the Cotswolds.
Still with multi-terrain, there is a race for the young (and young-at-heart) at the Pendock Spring Chicken Run in Staunton with a choice of 10k, 5k and 1k on roads and farm tracks in South Worcestershire with all proceeds to Pendock CE Primary School.
We end with the Family Fun Run 3.5K hosted by Alveley Stands Up To Cancer, a campaigning group in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. Starting at 10.30am from St Mary’s Church, Alveley with entrants invited to run, walk or push for three charities – Macmillan, CLIC Sargent and the Harry Johnson Trust.
