Kenilworth Runners have been awarded Decathlon Coventry’s Half Marathon prestigious Running Club Award for their impressive performance at last month’s event. The race saw a record breaking 3,566 runners compete, almost double the number that took part in 2014.
The award gives recognition to the best overall club performance, combining the top two male and top two female fastest finishing times. Connor Carson, Stuart Hopkins, Louise Andrews and Claire Goult finished with an overall time of 5:31:25, which provided them with both the Running Club Award accolade plus £250.
Peter Bryan, chairman at Kenilworth Runners who fielded 34 runners on the day, said: "We were delighted to win the mixed team prize. Coventry’s Half Marathon has helped to fill a gap for many runners looking for a race whilst training for spring marathons, and we are certainly happy to have another race locally to participate in."
On the rising status of the half marathon, Peter added: "It's great to see the race growing in popularity and shows the local running scene is in good health! The £250 prize will be donated to the PTA at Kenilworth School to support the valuable work between the school and Kenilworth Runners in encouraging the local youth to take up and enjoy running.”
Pre-registration for the 2016 half marathon is now open and available here.
