Magical running at Wyre Wizard Trail Half

Wyre Wizard Trail Half Marathon

Ancient landscapes and autumn colours cast a spell over runners in the Wyre Wizard Trail Half Marathon (Sunday 3 November). They weaved their way around 13.4 miles of charming and challenging terrain in Worcestershire.

This autumn trail half marathon was organised by Pulse Pursuits and held on a sunny morning at the Callow Hill Visitor Centre, Wyre Forest. Entries were limited to 100 and runners of all ages and abilities were keen to test themselves on woodland tracks, fire roads and trails that, thanks to the weather, were wet, muddy and boggy in places. Not forgetting the few hills they had to deal with.

Off they went at 10am to follow a well-signed and marshalled route with four water stations to keep energy and hydration levels topped up. The main man himself, the Wyre Wizard lent his support as did the marshals as they continued along this visually appealing course before reaching the finish back at the Visitor Centre.

Ioan Huruban of Telford AC was an impressive winner in 1:31:41 with Leigh Reeve of Daventry RR second in 1:36:32. Damien Cartland was third in 1:39:25.

Lauren Cooper was the winning female in 1:53:33 followed by Kate Whitfield of Mercia Fell Runners in 1:56:03. She was closely followed by Faye Davies who finished third in 1:56:18.

The last runner crossed the line in 3:19:14.

This event supports KEMP Hospice and £1 from every senior entry fee was donated to this charity. Runners had the option to make an additional voluntary donation when they entered.
