Movable Feast Of Races

action from the Keyworth Turkey Trot Half Marathon

Only two weeks to go until the main event but in the meantime, we have an inviting menu of races on offer.

Looking ahead to tomorrow (Saturday 10 December) there are two races for starters: the Pavilion Gardens 5K December, a monthly series of runs organised by Buxton AC and open to everyone irrespective of ability; and the Wheatley Winter 10, one of several events organised by HOBO Pace. This 10-mile North Nottinghamshire race goes along a cross-country/trail route that includes the steep Howbeck Hill with scenic views of the area.
The focus on Sunday (11 December) is on 10ks and half marathons. There is the Telford 10K, a fast, flat road race with a 10.45am start time for elites and an 11.30am start time for the masses. It is part of the Telford AC series of races that encompass road, trail and fell. Another cold-weather inspired race is the Milton Keynes Winter Half Marathon, a traffic-free route round the city with a snowflake-designed medal and T-shirt to all finishers.
Staying with the festive food theme there is the Keyworth Turkey Trot, a hilly, road-based half marathon that fundraises for the 1st Keyworth Scout Group. The winners will each receive a turkey, generously donated by main event sponsor, the Keyworth Co-op supermarket.
Final shout-out is for the Sneyd Striders Christmas Pudding Run with a choice of two distances – 10 miles and 5 miles, both on the road. There is a memento, Christmas pudding and goody bag for all finishers with refreshments to follow.
