New Course Record At Belvoir Half

There was a new course record at the 34rd Belvoir Half Marathon on Sunday (10 April) whilst three junior runners showed that they were future stars in the making with impressive performances in the Fun Run. 497 runners tackled an undulating course around the attractive village of Hose in Leicestershire with another 50 runners opting for the 4.5 mile, fun run.

The winner of the feature half marathon was Josh Bull of Derby AC in a new course record of 1:08:50 followed by David Greenwood of Holme Pierrepoint AC in 1:16:20. Simon Midwood of Valley Striders AC was third in 1:17:51.
Magda Locker of Charnwood AC won the women’s race in 1:28:34 followed by Lisa Deacon of Notts AC in 1:30:49 with Laura Davison of West End Runners taking third in 1:31:32.
Midpoint runner was Lance Rathbone of Huncote Harriers in 1:48:33. The last runner finished in 3:49:03, showing great determination to complete the course. The winning men’s team was Huncote Harriers: winning ladies team was Charnwood AC. 
A father and son finished joint first in the fun run. Samuel Gordon Kerr of Panthers and Martin Gordon Kerr of Rutland Running & Triathlon Club both crossed the line in 32:11. Samuel Kerr was also first in the under 12 category and is clearly one to watch in the future.  

First lady was Madi Blesop in 33.30 who was also 4th overall.  Lucy Rathbone from the under 12 category, took third place, narrowly beating her mother Suzanne Rathbone. Sarah Maston of Rushcliffe AC was the first under 16 home.
These youngsters finished in the top third of the field, demonstrating their fitness and talent at this distance.
