New runners wanted for Erewash Valley 0K to 5K

Runners At The 0K To 5K Course from Erewash Valley RC

Beginners courses are starting all over the Midlands this autumn so if you fancy getting into running then a local course won't be far away. Courses like the free Beginners 0K to 5K course from Erewash Valley RC which will get you started in a fun, friendly and supportive environment. Enrol at a walk and graduate with a super-friendly parkrun.

Erewash Valley RC's 0K to 5K is typical of many and is aimed at anyone who wants to become a runner but doesn’t know where to start. It is based upon the immensely popular Couch to 5K programme that has transformed thousands of people into runners, enjoying the mental and physical benefits of this inclusive sport that last for a lifetime.

It is the fourth time for this free 8-week course but the first time the club has organised an autumn/winter version. The first session is on Wednesday 9 October, meeting at 18.30pm for a 19.00pm start; then meet at 18.45pm for a 19.00pm start for the rest of the course. These weekly sessions will be held alongside regular club nights giving new (and lapsed!) runners an idea of what to expect if they decide to join Erewash Valley RC.

There will be a warm welcome from run leaders John and Kevin who apply a progressive, structured approach using a mixture of walking and running. The course begins with the balance in favour of walking; this gradually switches to more running than walking and culminates with a 5K at Shipley Country parkrun.

This course is open to all; however, Erewash Valley RC recommends that anyone aged over 40, not exercised for a long time or has a medical condition to check with their GP beforehand.
