A new parkrun is coming to Sandwell Valley in the West Midlands. The inaugural event will take place at 9am on Saturday 11 November at Sandwell Park Farm, West Bromwich.
The parkrun phenomenon continues to grow with Sandwell Council involved in helping to organise this event for the local community. Organisers have worked hard to ensure they have the right location, suitable course and necessary infrastructure for the event. Central to this are the volunteers who will carry out a variety of roles to deliver a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
The Sandwell Valley parkrun is a single lap route on a mixture of tarmac and trail with marshals situated along the way to guide everyone around. It is located within the award-winning Sandwell Valley Country Park that includes several landmarks including the Victorian Park Farm, Forge Mill Lake and several nature reserves.
The event starts from Sandwell Valley Showground and finishes outside the Park Farm building followed by the opportunity to further socialise over a post-run coffee.
Everyone who finishes received their time and an age-graded score or percentage that they can use to compare themselves against others. This is useful for runners looking to review their performances on a regular basis and/or as preparation for races.
