Luke Gunn has confirmed he will defend his title at this year’s Ramathon in Derby on Sunday 7 June. The event made a much-anticipated return in 2014 and organisers have increased entry levels to 4000 places to keep up with the expected demand.
Gunn, who is a lifetime member of Derby AC, narrowly missed out on his PB en route to victory last year. The 29-year-old finished in 68:53, with Notts AC’s Alastair Watson second and Ben Fish in third.
The athlete is an alumni of the University of Birmingham, where he is now based working as the Sports Scholarship Manager, which involves mentoring many of the countries promising junior athletes, whilst continuing his own training.
On taking part in June’s event, Gunn commented on Twitter: “I’m really hoping to be able to replicate last year’s win at @RamathonHalf this June. May have got lucky last year.”
Starting and finishing at the iPro Stadium, runners will be able to enjoy a newly designed 13.1 mile course, which will still include the villages of Shardlow, Ambaston, Elvaston and the Castle Grounds.
Entry for the race is priced at just £22.00 for UK Affiliated members, £24 otherwise. More information and registration details are available at the event website.
