The ever popular 10K is in the spotlight this weekend (23-24 September) and coming to a Midlands location near you. Choose between road or trail and enjoy the ride.
The trip starts on Saturday at the Abbots Bromley 10K in Rugeley, Staffordshire. It is held at Blithfield Reservoir Sailing Club where runners follow a mainly flat route consisting of road and stone tracks around the reservoir. They’ll be treated to superb views of the countryside before being rewarded with a medal and goody bag for their hard work.
The tour continues into Sunday, stopping at the Norton 10K and 5K Fun Run. This is the sixth outing for this multi-terrain race starting at 10am from Norton Parish Hall in Littleworth, Worcester. All proceeds to Norton Community Games and St Richard’s Hospice.
Moving on to Lincolnshire and a fast, flat race organised by Spalding Triathlon Club. The West Pinchbeck 10K is a great end of season event - ideal for a PB attempt with a cash prize for anyone who breaks the existing course record.
We head back west to the Walsall Run 10K and 5K. This is an annual event organised by Walsall Rotary Club that fundraises for local and national charities. Both races start and finish at the attractive Walsall Arboretum and there will be musical motivation from the Shrewsbury Brass Band.
Our final port of call is South Herefordshire for the Big Dipper 10K. What might be called an undulating or shall we say ‘roller coaster’ race around country lanes followed by tea and cake at the finish. The 10K starts at 11am from the Millennium Hall, Upton Bishop in Ross-on-Wye.
