Teamwork is on the agenda this weekend (15-16 July) with events that feature obstacles, mud and water. Co-operation plus grit and determination are required to survive to the finish.
We are straight in at the deep end with the Kickass Big Weekender at Weston Park in Staffordshire. The obstacle course race (OCR) is held over both days with a kids event on Saturday, followed by the adults on Sunday. It’s a chance to have fun in the mud then relax with a beer or two afterwards.
Slip over to Lincolnshire for the Rough Events – Obstacle Course Race over the weekend with a choice of distances from 1.5k to 10 miles. These options are available to families as well as teams with entertainment provided at the event village.
Our third OCR is the Iron Ram and Lido Ram at Cliff Lakes in Tamworth, Staffordshire. They are part of the Ram Run series of races open to serious and fun runners that provide a tough yet fun experience. Iron Ram takes place on Sunday morning with the Wild Lambs Rampage and Lido Ram in the afternoon.
Our last event is not an OCR but a challenge nevertheless. The Piece of Cake Trail Run offers two distances – half marathon and marathon – around the Long Mynd and Shropshire Hills. There is a cake competition on the day and a confectionary-inspired medal for all finishers. It’s organised by How Hard Can It Be Events who host races from half marathon to ultra distance in scenic locations.
