Irish eyes will be smiling at the new Emerald Mile Fun Run, part of the St Patrick’s Festival and Parade, Birmingham on Sunday (12 March).
Thanks to the generosity of main sponsor South and City College Birmingham, the £10 entry fee for adults and £5 entry fee for children has been waived. Now with free entry, participants are invited to wear fancy dress with an emphasis on the colour green and run, jog, walk or dance their way along the Parade route, Digbeth High Street whilefundraising for charity and the Parade.
The 2017 Big Parade is a partnership between the Birmingham St Patrick’s Day Festival and local company Kiely Bros to celebrate the multicultural identity of the area as well as the Irish connection. The fun run starts at 10am followed by the Parade at 12 noon with both events passing several well-known landmarks including the Bullring and the 02 Institute.
There are prizes on offer including the best times and fancy dress and the first 30 runners will receive an event T-shirt sponsored by South and City College. The college is also acting as the Race HQ and a secure baggage area.
Entries are capped at 250 for the Emerald Mile Fun Run and available on a ‘first come first served’ basis. Participants must be aged 16 and above and children to be accompanied by an adult.
