Runners are invited to put their London Marathon training to the test at the beautiful Belvoir Half Marathon on Sunday (9 April). The Belvoir Half Marathon and 4.5-mile fun run takes place at Hose Village Hall in Leicestershire.
Run-through At Belvoir Half Marathon
The half marathon starts at 10am, followed by the fun run at 10.15am with an entry limit of 700 although this race fills up quickly due to the scenic location. It is always held two weeks before the London Marathon and used as a warm-up race, further adding to its appeal.
The course proceeds along quiet country lanes through the rural countryside of the Vale of Belvoir with a few minor undulations along the way. However, the route has strong PB-potential due to mostly flat sections that give runners the chance to push to their limits.
The popular annual event attracts runners from the Midlands and across the UK including a large percentage of female entrants and veterans. There is plenty of support from the local community with many people volunteering their services, contributing towards the friendly ethos of the race. It is suitable for newcomers as well as regular runners.
There are five water stations and first aid stations around the course and the event useschip timing, with individual finish times sent to every runner’s mobile. Trophies will be awarded for individual, senior, veteran and super-vet plus male and female teams with a memento for all finishers.
Online and postal registration has now closed. Runners can register on the day from 8am, if spaces are available.
