Organisers of the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon have announced an exciting new partnership with one of the leading sports retailers, Runners Need. The confirmation means that the retailers will be the official partner for the 2015 and 2016 events.
The marathon has enjoyed considerable success since being reintroduced and is known to offer the fastest and flattest 26.2 mile course in the UK with just 54m of elevation. Such is the popularity of the race, up to 12,500 runners are expected to turnout for the 2015 event, scheduled for Sunday 19 April. This year's race saw winners Andi Jones and Emily Wicks set new course records in 2:16:59 and 2:38:26 respectively, with all four leading men finishing under the 2 hour 20 mark.
Runners Need will lend its support for the next two years and will assist with further growth and development of the event. Alongside the initiatives offered in store to support runners they will also provide kit advice, support training runs from selected stores and provide prize vouchers for the overall and age category winners of the race.
Race director Simon Hill comments on the partnership: “We are proud to announce Runners Need as the official sports retail partner for the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon and to have their support for the next two years. We are looking forward to working with Runners Need.”
