The beautiful cathedral city of Salisbury and the surrounding Wiltshire countryside is calling with a great late summer date and a choice of distances from 5K to 50K. Salisbury was recently named the best place to live in the UK by the Sunday Times and event organisers are looking forward to showcasing their great city on Sunday 11 August.
The Salisbury 5-4-3-2-1 is a real festival of running (and walking) and is considered one of the safest and most picturesque in the south of England. Perfect for the whole family with a choice of distances from 5K to the more demanding marathon (42K) or even a 50K ultra marathon.
The routes will be over footpaths, bridle ways and quiet country roads in the Salisbury/Wessex area taking you past a variety of sites of historical and scientific interest and through country estates not usually open to the general public. Access is thanks to the generosity of local landowners and English Heritage.
Walkers as well as distance runners are welcome at Salisbury 5-4-3-2-1 (in fact the 5K and 10K distances are exclusively for walkers). The running events start at half marathon and also include a 20 mile race, a good staging for those progressing from 13.1 miles to full marathon.
