It was a step to the left followed by a step to the right with Frank N. Furter, Magenta and Riff Raff among the cast of runners at Sunday’s (13 August) Rocky Horror Picture Show Tribute Run. Blue skies and sunshine formed the backdrop to the themed race in Shropshire which paid homage to the 1970s classic film.
Runners had the choice of a 10k, half marathon or full marathon on a flat, PB course with many entering into the spirit of things by wearing fancy dress. There was even a spot prize for the best costume.
The race was limited to 100 runners, who completed multiple laps of a 1km cycle track at Shrewsbury Sports Village accompanied by music and cheering spectators. The friendly, encouraging atmosphere helped many to achieve their goals with a striking movie medal as a reward for their efforts.
Paul Davies won the marathon in 2:53:51 with Dawn Hunt the fastest female in 4:41:26. Edd Land claimed victory in the half marathon in 1:24:43 with Victoria Moulson as the winning lady in 1:52:00. In the 10k, Connor Middleton claimed the top spot in 35:43 with Mandy Baxter the first lady in 50:38.
Runner number 35 won a prize for his Tim Curry a.k.a. Dr Frank N. Furter character, judged the best on the day.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show Tribute Run is part of a series of races organised by How Hard Can It Be Events & COD RC.
