Spring Into Action With Sports Tours
It may be held a little earlier than spring, but you would never guess from the warm temperatures at Malta Marathon & Half Marathon on 28 February. Both race routes are predominantly downhill with the start 200 metres above sea level and the finish at sea level.
From sea to ‘oui’, Paris Marathon on 3 April starts on one of the world’s most famous streets – Les Champs Elysees. The race, which celebrates its 40th anniversary next year, attracts 40,000 runners each year and takes in the Louvre, Place de la Bastille, the Eiffel Tower, and Pont Neuf, before finishing in the spectacular Avenue Foch.
Also on 3 April is Berlin Half Marathon. The event starts and finishes on Karl-Marx-Allee, a monumental socialist boulevard in the eastern part of Berlin. The course passes several landmarks including grand buildings on the Unter den Linden boulevard, the Brandenburg Gate, the vast Tiergarten park, the Berlin Victory Column, the magnificent Charlottenburg Palace, and the Kurfürstendamm Boulevard.
Another relatively flat race – despite its nickname of the City of Seven Hills – Rome Marathon returns on 10 April. Now in its 22nd year, the marathon takes in all the major sights from the Coliseum to the Roman Forum as well as St. Peter's Square and Vatican City.
